Prayer Warrior #4 - High School Camp
There is no better place for a teen than at High School Camp at Lakeside Bible Camp. Yesterday many cabin leaders reported that their cabins were full of campers from Christian homes. They also reported many were still searching to understand the meaning of their own faith. Still a few of these teens have yet to experience the saving work of Jesus Christ upon their life. Many of the teens consider themselves Christian, but consider themselves open to other religions (scary). We plan to constantly feed them with the solid truth of the gospel from God’s Word. Our hope is they will walk away knowing with certainty that Jesus truly is the Son of God. What would it be like for the World if by the end of the week God unleashed 50 teens 100% sold out for the mission of Jesus. …We hope, and we pray for radical change in our culture. Please LORD, let these campers be part of what is means to transform the world for the Kingdom of God.
Ed Kelley is serving as our speaker this week. He’s taking the campers through the gospel of Mark. This morning’s message on Mark 3 opened up a great Q&A on the topic of the Devil and demons. These campers have so many questions. They are constantly stopping Ed before and after chapel to ask further questions. It’s so encouraging to see these conversations taking place. Please pray that God would use this week to help these campers sort their most pressing questions. We’re thankful for a safe space for these campers to seek and find what we know is the life-giving truth that is the Good News.
Prayer List
A sickness began going through camp at the end of Girls Camp II and through Family Camp I. Please pray that God would help us all to be healthy again.
Pray for one camper who has a hard time believing in religious things. Pray that God would help him to genuinely consider the truth of Jesus’ person and work.
Pray for campers who are half committed to their faith. Pray that God would change that for them this week so they can find true joy in knowing God personally.
Pray that our wonderful cabin leaders would have energy to shepherd these campers throughout the whole week. Pray that God would cause their 1-1 conversations to remain focused on a gospel conversation.
Reflecting on last week’s Boys Camp I, there was a point during the week where half the boys raised their hand to pray and receive Jesus as their Savior. Pray that God would continue to nurture their young faith. Pray that those boys would continue to walk by the Spriit and not by their own sight.
We have 50 campers and 13 TCL this week. It wasn’t that many years ago that this camp filled up by the beginning of June. A teen camp like this has never been more needed in our culture than it is now. How can we build this week of camp back up again? I think the answer is to connect to the youth groups. The 2-year season of COVID changed many of the churches we worked with in the past. Most of those churches have experienced turnover in their youth director positions and often at the Senior Pastor level. Please pray that God would build this camp back up again. Pray that God would help LBC develop relationships with more church groups so that we can bless them and they can bless us.
TCL Story
I got to know Vincent today at breakfast. He’s doing Jr.TCL this week and seems to be a young man very committed to his faith. It surprised me to learn that he had just come to know faith in Christ only 7 months ago. His parents are atheist. After realizing the pointless hope of denying God’s existence, he began searching through the world’s religions and settled on Christianity. This week he is serving on TCL and getting an opportunity to sort out his understanding of the Christian faith. Pray for his young faith and pray that God would help him answer his questions about God’s Word. Pray that he continues to have a wonder about the LORD and that he would remain committed in his search for God’s truth.
