The most peaceful interruption!

Have you ever had an experience of being interrupted while you work? Those interruptions are not always peaceful. Our reading today speaks of one of the most peaceful interruptions in the history of mankind—though it was completely terrifying. A heavenly choir completed the angels message by giving a group of shepherds an experience only found in heaven. Think about what that interruption would been like. Those angels came from the throne room of God. Picture in your head Revelation 4-5. Those heavenly beings (maybe not the four creatures, but the other angels) that continually praise God before His throne; they suddenly appeared in the sky with a musical chorus from another dimension. What a marvelous experience!

Those angels gave praise to God and announced God’s favor upon those whom His favor rests. In other words, the peace and praise that exists in heaven will be experienced by mankind. No longer will it just be shared with the angels. Those who call Jesus Christ their Savior will also get to experience heavenly peace.

I hope your time off this holiday is an interruption where you can take joy in His peace. Enjoy his Word during this time. Enjoy your time with others and share the Good News that the shepherds received.
