Nothing Is Impossible with God

One of the themes we find in Luke’s Christmas story is that nothing is impossible with God. That principle emphasizes the message of grace that we see in the Christmas story. As God brings about the incarnation, He is doing something that only He can accomplish. Luke wants us to understand that the details surrounding Jesus’ birth were extraordinary. Elizabeth lived many years in her shame because she was childless, but God turned her joy around by giving her John the Baptist. As Mary talked with the angel, she was wondering, “How could this be? And the angel gave her a sign, by telling her to look to her relative Elizabeth. And so when Mary went to visit Elizabeth, I’m sure it confirmed for her that what the angel said was true. God was in the midst of bringing about something truly remarkable.

With the Christmas season wired into our calendar year, it gives us the opportunity to consider our own faith. As believers we trust that God accomplished what he said he would do through Jesus Christ. Therefore, as we listen to the biblical messages of Christmas we are reminded of God’s grace in our own life. He turned us from disbelief to belief—that alone is a miracle. Without God’s involvement to lead us to Him, we would have nothing this time of year.

Knowing that God does the impossible, it encourages us to pray some crazy prayers. We can come to God and ask Him for anything. We know that He hears us and we know that he responds. God doesn’t give us everything we ask for. He gives us only what he provides according to His will—and that’s a good thing. God supplies all of our needs, and yet the Christmas story confirms our hope in God. Thus it reminds us to keep asking God to do what we cannot.

Year after years we get to see God do the impossible at camp. He brings kids to camp that need to hear the gospel. He brings volunteers to serve. He keeps our gates open with donations. He hears all the prayers that we lay before Him. Thank you for your continued prayers and support of LBC.

Keep asking for Him to do the impossible!
