Prayer Warrior #6 - Girls Camp I

The girls are alive, with the sound a singing! We are blessed this week to have Patti Craig leading the girls in worship. Usually when I share with people about LBC, I tell them about how we share the gospel with kids using the messages of the speaker, the conversations with cabin leaders, and the memorization of scripture for patches. Patti has reminded me this week of the power of song to lead the hearts of campers to the truth of the gospel. These campers are learning so many verses simply by singing the songs during chapel. Praise the Lord for music that points us to Him.

We started this week with some extra wind and rain on Monday. It was the first day of rain in over a month. Initially that put a damper on the spirits of some of our campers. Today the sun is back out, the green grass is growing from the morning ‘til the night, and everybody’s still talking about Jesus. Patti’s songs are notoriously catchy :-). This morning in the cabin leader prayer time, they were asking for us to pray for campers struggling with anxiety from being away from home. Now that the sun is out, the kids are swimming more and we’re hoping they can settle into their enjoyment of the camp. Please pray for campers struggling with homesickness.

Our speaker this week is Deb Karjalainen. It’s her first time serving as a speaker for LBC, but she has come in the past as a cabin leader. Today she came to chapel carrying a cardboard cutout of a church, which she used to illustrate Psalm 122 and coming to the house of the Lord. As the campers this week like to sing “Ain’t no red lights,” Please pray they would come into chapel to experience joy in the house of the LORD. Pray that God would give Deb wisdom to know how to shape her messages to these children.
